Ce 11 d\u00e9cembre 2024, une pr\u00e9cieuse toile a \u00e9t\u00e9 restitu\u00e9e<\/strong> par le groupe allemand Bayer AG \u00e0 l’\u00c9tat fran\u00e7ais. D\u00e9sormais pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e au Mus\u00e9e d’art moderne Andr\u00e9 Malraux<\/strong> (MuMa) du Havre, elle marque une \u00e9tape importante dans l’histoire des collections dispers\u00e9es<\/strong> pendant les conflits, notamment de la Seconde Guerre mondiale <\/strong>! Un tableau disparu sous l’Occupation<\/h2>\n

Acquise par l’\u00c9tat et d\u00e9pos\u00e9e en 1916<\/strong> au minist\u00e8re des Affaires \u00c9trang\u00e8res \u00e0 Paris, La Plaine, Cassis-sur-Mer<\/strong><\/em> est une toile r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en 1913 par le peintre Henri Manguin<\/strong> (1874-1949). Il fut l’un des grands repr\u00e9sentants du fauvisme<\/strong>. Cette \u0153uvre avait disparu durant l’Occupation, p\u00e9riode o\u00f9 l’\u00e9difice minist\u00e9riel fut occup\u00e9 par l’arm\u00e9e allemande, <\/strong>et son histoire \u00e9tait quasiment inconnue jusqu’\u00e0 sa r\u00e9apparition<\/strong> en cette fin d’ann\u00e9e 2024. On sait d\u00e9sormais qu’en d\u00e9cembre 1950<\/strong>, Bayer AG l’avais acquis aupr\u00e8s de la Kunstverein fur Rheinlande und Westfalen<\/em> de D\u00fcsseldorf, une institution dirig\u00e9e alors par Hildebrand Gurlitt, marchand d’art impliqu\u00e9 dans les transactions d’oeuvres spoli\u00e9es<\/strong>, et que c’est ainsi qu’elle avait quitt\u00e9 le territoire fran\u00e7ais…<\/p>\n

Un tr\u00e9sor enfin retrouv\u00e9<\/h2>\n

Apr\u00e8s ces p\u00e9rip\u00e9ties, La Plaine a enfin \u00e9t\u00e9 retrouv\u00e9e<\/strong> il y a quelques mois lors d’une vente aux ench\u00e8res<\/strong> chez Sotheby’s Cologne. Investi dans une d\u00e9marche active de recherche des biens culturels<\/strong> disparus, le Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap) <\/strong>c\u00e9l\u00e8bre donc enfin le retour en France de cette oeuvre disparue depuis pr\u00e8s de 75 ans<\/strong>. En 5 ans, ce sont ainsi 32 \u0153uvres<\/strong> de la collection du Cnap qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9int\u00e9gr\u00e9es au patrimoine<\/strong> artistique fran\u00e7ais !<\/p>\n
